Praise Dance of Redemption

In Jesus’s parable of the lost son. As the father saw his Son returning home he called a celebration. At that celebration the father commissioned music and dance. The dance is a biblical response to redemption, love and reconciliation.

Luke 15:20-25 20

20. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

21. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

22. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

23. And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

24 .For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

25 . Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.

Praise Dance For An Audience Of One

This morning I heard a still voice say , come get up and dance for me. The Lord was calling me to dance for Him alone at that moment.I felt Him whisper in my ear, “I love to watch you dance.”

So I got  up and went to my dance studio, turned on the music and danced and laughed with my Jesus. Do you know that our Father in heaven loves to watch us dance. Just like He delights to hear our bold prayers, joyful songs, sweet music and load shouts. He loves to see our hands lifted in adoration, our turns and leaps of joy, and of course our bowing in pure worship.

I discovered this morning the honor and privilege of dancing for an audience of One. Let us dance for our God and Maker, our best Friend the lover of our souls, Jesus the Son of the Living God. Jesus the Lord of the dance.
Psalm 68:24-27

They have seen thy goings, O God; even the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary. The singers went before , the players on instruments followed after;among them were the damsels playing with timbrels . Bless ye God in the congregations, even the Lord, from the fountain of Israel. There is little Benjamin with their ruler , the princes of Judah and their council, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.

Music For Worship Dance Choreography

Choosing music for praise and worship dance choreography

Below is an excerpt from my ebook Phenomenal Choreography for Worship.

I encourage openness and use of many music styles for worship and praise dance choreography. From a personal perspective, I have long held a preference of Sandy Patty hymns for dancing. Once at a church, a young person approached me with a request.

The Greek word for dance in Luke 15:25 is, choros. Choros means a company of dancers, round dancing and singers (Strong). The choreographed worship dance is a biblical response to redemption, love and reconciliation. Let us celebrate Jesus and choreograph phenomenal dances of reconciliation, joy and victory. 21 Days of Worship Dance/Day 11

Dance is a symbol of unity and order.

In Exodus 15:20 the Hebrew word for dance is Macholah(Strong). Macholah is a round dance, dancing chorus. The circle symbolizes unity and order. The women were together in this dance and Miriam led them. That was important to note. When anything

Your body is your instrument for praise!

The Apostle Paul tells us in the Bible that we must present ;"our bodies as a living sacrifice". Paul also said that our "bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit". This is very important for the worship dance minister to remember, for our body is our instrument for ministry. Just like the flute is the instrument of the the flutist. We must use our bodies to worship and praise the Lord. Jesus is so great and magnificent that it requires more than mere words to worship Him fully. We must use our temple, living sacrifice, instrument to make glorious dances that will please Him.

21 Days of Worship Dance/ Day 7

Dance and be an arrow pointing to Jesus!

Dance is a living picture, or painting, a moving photograph of who He is.  Our worship dance must be a clearly defined message about Jesus. Even the unsaved should know and feel as they view our dance, that it is different than an ordinary performance or show. Through our dance we must be an arrow pointing to Jesus and lifting up His Holy Name.

Will your dance touch someone?

Dscf1361 While I was teaching my  8  to 11 year old ballet class on Thursday evening. I looked at those beautiful young ladies as they were doing their exercises at the barre. I thought  to myself ,this is  my destiny, to pass  on what was given to me  by God to the next generation. At that moment I felt challenged to  personally impact at least 3 generations. That would be such an honor for you and I, to make a tangible difference in the lives of people, and then touch their children, and their grandchildren.
We can do it.
