Why Is The Prophetess Praise Dancing

Why Is The Prophetess Praise Dancing

The Songs of Joy, c. 1896-1902, by James Jacques Joseph Tissot

For centuries dance has been a universal medium for people of all nations to express themselves. In Exodus 15:20 Miriam the Prophetess, who was Moses’ sister, demonstrated that dance is a natural response to God’s miracles. Miriam and the children of Israel experienced God’s miracles through the parting of the Red Sea. Her first response was to lead the women in song and praisedance. Her dance was a visual demonstration of God’s miraculous power.

Jesus Christ is performing miracles in our lives today, therefore, we as his children, have a reason to worship Him with dance. When Miriam led the women of Israel in a worshipdance of victory after the parting of the Red Sea, she was about 80 years old. At that age she was a worship leader in music, dance, as well as the first woman in Scripture mentioned as a Prophetess.

Many other women who viewed the deliverance miracle were inspired by Miriam’s praisedance. They followed her lead and joined in the dance. As liturgical dance ministry leaders, we too should invoke in others a desire to dance. Miriam proclaimed what and who God is through her sacred dance. It was a visual expression of the joy of knowing God as a healer, deliverer, and Savior who is in control of all things. Miriam’s dance was personal and corporate. Therefore, today’s daughters of Miriam go forth in the dance with joy and boldness. The Lord Jesus has only just begun His great work in and through you.

Encouragement For Praise Dancers: Three Keys To Encouragement

Do you need encouragement?

As a praise dance ministry leader you are expected to encourage others with the dance, music, drama, song and visual arts. We are not supposed to get discouraged, but we do.

Many people are surprised to find out that the worship dancers and singers who bring so much joy and delight to the Lord and his people are hurting and discouraged.

Psalms 42:11 teaches 3 keys to encouraging ourselves in the Lord as worship leaders. To learn about these keys, listen to the 45 min life changing Tele-seminar called

Encouragement Along The Way To Receive Your Encouragement Today.

After you listen to the Tele-Seminar recording, download my free guide, Strategies For Sustained Encouragement.

Praise Dance of Redemption

In Jesus’s parable of the lost son. As the father saw his Son returning home he called a celebration. At that celebration the father commissioned music and dance. The dance is a biblical response to redemption, love and reconciliation.

Luke 15:20-25 20

20. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

21. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

22. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

23. And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

24 .For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

25 . Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.

Praise Dance For An Audience Of One

This morning I heard a still voice say , come get up and dance for me. The Lord was calling me to dance for Him alone at that moment.I felt Him whisper in my ear, “I love to watch you dance.”

So I got  up and went to my dance studio, turned on the music and danced and laughed with my Jesus. Do you know that our Father in heaven loves to watch us dance. Just like He delights to hear our bold prayers, joyful songs, sweet music and load shouts. He loves to see our hands lifted in adoration, our turns and leaps of joy, and of course our bowing in pure worship.

I discovered this morning the honor and privilege of dancing for an audience of One. Let us dance for our God and Maker, our best Friend the lover of our souls, Jesus the Son of the Living God. Jesus the Lord of the dance.
Psalm 68:24-27

They have seen thy goings, O God; even the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary. The singers went before , the players on instruments followed after;among them were the damsels playing with timbrels . Bless ye God in the congregations, even the Lord, from the fountain of Israel. There is little Benjamin with their ruler , the princes of Judah and their council, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.

The Dance of Redemption

In Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son, the moment the father saw his lost son returning home, he called a celebration. At that celebration the father commissioned music and dance. The Greek word for dance in Luke 15:25 is, choros. Choros means a company of dancers, round dancing and singers (Strong). The choreographed worship dance is a biblical response to redemption, love and reconciliation. Let us celebrate Jesus and choreograph phenomenal dances of reconciliation, joy and victory. Let The Children Praise Dance

Let The Children Praise Dance

A few years ago, my husband was very ill. While I was tending to him, and trying to keep the house quite and calm. I allowed my children  to veg in front of the tube. Then in my Bible study I read the scripture Psalm 8:2.

This scripture challenged me to get the children together to have a praise session in the house even while my husband was sick and to rejoice ahead of time for victory for his healing. So I said, turn off the TV children, let’s get the tambourines and flags and turn on the music.  My daughter and I put on our praise dance garments, and we just danced and worshiped before the Lord around the house. As we rejoiced we saw an immediate response in my husband’s condition, for the better.
We must allow our children to participate in worship, at home and in Church. We must not stop them or send them away for their praise is vital to our victory and even their victory. The scripture is very clear, God ordained, he committed, he wants even they who don’t even eat solid (sucklings) food yet, to worship and praise “From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies to silence the foe and the avenger.”
Psalm 8:2
